WEA in the Wall Street Journal

The estate of Gil Friesen, the late music executive and former president of A&M Records, is selling his Los Angeles home for $8.995 million.

The 8,627-square-foot home has three bedrooms, three bathrooms and four partial baths. The second floor is the master suite and has an office and a second living room. There are floor-to-ceiling windows in the back of the home. The property, which is over 1 acre, includes a 50-foot-long pool, a cabana with one bathroom, a four-car garage and a gym.

Mr. Friesen bought the home in 1984. He hired architect Richard Meier’s firm to add on the second floor and remodel the property, says listing agent Stephen Shapiro of Westside Estate Agency. Mr. Friesen lived there, and in his Montecito home, until his death in December.

One of the first employees of A&M Records, Mr. Friesen helped bring in acts like the Carpenters and Sting. He later helped A&M start a film division that produced movies like “Better Off Dead.”
